This is an 8-week course designed for beginner students who wish to learn the basics of patchwork. You will make 6 very common blocks, and put them together with sashing and borders for a finished quilt top measuring approximately 52” square in size. In the process, you’ll learn how to cut using a rotary cutter, how to sew a straight 1/4” seam, and how to press the seams properly. This is the start of any quilt, and you will continue to practice these skills in all your future quilts.
The only pre-requisite is having a sewing machine, in good working order, and be familiar on how to operate it. You will bring your machine to class. There will be homework after each class to practice what you’ve learned and finish your blocks.
At the end of this course, you will have 4 weeks to quilt your pieced quilt top. Then it’s time to come back to the classroom for a bonus session on binding. Now you can enjoy your finished quilt or gift it to someone special.
